Óscar Sala ( English)

Born in Sedaví, Valencia (Spain). He studied at the Conservatorio Superior of Valencia and National Conservatory of the Versailles Region. Afterwards he continued his musical studies in Munich.

He was accepted into the National Spanish Youth Orchestra in 1987 and from that moment was invited to play with a large number of Spanish orchestras. He forms a part of the European Community Orchestra. As of 1991 he is first horn of the City of Granada Orchestra.

As member of the Orchestra of Granada he has performed as soloist the 1st and 2nd conciertos of R. Strauss, concierto of C. Förster, Sinfonia Concertante by W.A. Mozart and concerto fragments by W.A. Mozart, the last two pieces being Spanish premiers.

Among other invitations, he has been invited to play with the International Symphony Orchestra of Israel, the Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra in Parma Italy, and the Medellin Symphony Orchestra in Columbia. Currently he combines his responsibilities as first horn in Granada with teaching responsibilities at the Conservatorio Superior del Pais Vasco or Musikene where he teaches horn, orchestra repertoire and historical interpretation of ancient music. As a teacher he has given clases in Germany, the Netherlands, France and Columbia.
He is frequently invited to give classes in orchestra technique by the Medellin Symphony Orquestra, as well as to give masterclasses and play by the Universities of Antioquia and EAFIT in Columbia.
